Viewership Down For 2017 MTV Video Music Awards

Post 29 of 2383

Viewership for the MTV Video Music Awards is continuing to go in the wrong direction. Sunday’s event hosted by Katy Perry drew a total of just over five-and-a-half-million viewers over ten networks, down from six-and-a-half-million in 2016 and just under ten-million in 2015. By comparison, in 2002, back when the show was seen only on MTV, the star-packed event drew about 12-million viewers. Part of the decline in viewership for Sunday’s event can be attributed to the fact that Perry and company were going up against HBO’s “Game of Thrones.”
